The United Way of Greater Hazleton received a $10,000 First Federal Charitable Foundation grant it plans to use to fund its Nurse's Pantry program in the Hazleton Area School District.

The Nurse's Pantry program is an initiative designed to support students' health and well-being by ensuring they have access to essential items that may not be readily available at home, such as hygiene products, clothing, snacks and school supplies, through partnerships with schools and local organizations. These resources help students meet immediate needs, which allows them to focus on their education and stay engaged in school and promotes a healthier and more inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

For nearly 100 years, the United Way of Greater Hazleton has been dedicated to raising funds to help people in need in the most efficient and effective way possible. Today, the organization has 15 member agencies it supports, which are collectively responsible for answering more than 150,000 instances of need in the community each year.

United Way of Greater Hazleton Interim President & CEO Jennifer Sordoni said, “We are deeply grateful for our partnership with the First Federal Charitable Foundation. Their $10,000 gift made an immediate and tangible impact, allowing the Nurse's Pantry of the United Way of Greater Hazleton to meet essential needs by providing hygiene and clothing items to underserved children. It has been a pleasure working with First Federal Charitable Foundation, that leads with both compassion and action.”
